ABOUT ME PAGE: Health Coach
Oh, here comes [name]…
is what people say when they hear my recognizable laughter.
It’s like I’m gasping for air but I can’t help it. And don’t really try to, as it makes others laugh. To hear me laugh, you’re welcome to set up a free health assessment call – but more on that later.
First, let me tell you about myself and why I value your nutrition, mindset and lifestyle.
I can help you, a busy, success-driven person rediscover your health, wellbeing and zest for life.
“[name] is so knowledgeable about healthy diets, creative ways to make time for exercise, and how to prioritize happy living. It is the whole package, sprinkled with light humor.” (client, country)
I come from a tiny farming town in [country]. Think hay fields, pastures, cowboys… And ballet, modern, hip-hop and jazz. Yes, that’s right.
I grew up outdoors, tagging gymnastic leotards to make money sweatshop style, becoming the worst driver of anything motorized. Unicycling was fine, as there’s no engine involved. What other bizarre talents do I have? Hmm… not really a talent but I have big flat feet. I love gardening and cooking, to which I was brought by my dad and grandma.
One of the things I’m very proud of, is not being afraid to do things differently from my friends. That meant moving from [country] to [country], from Hospitality Business Management and corporate giants to Nutrition, Yoga and tropical island lifestyle.
I was that person who burns the candle at both ends in a hectic, corporate career. As a certified health coach and yoga teacher I’m fully qualified to help restore the balance and confidence missing from your life.
I know how it feels to be stuck in the vicious cycle of binge-eating, yo-yo dieting and twelve hour work-days. As I remember it, it goes back to those ballet classes and my dance teacher asking my mom what my diet was like at home and that she should encourage me to lose weight… There we go, the journey of body consciousness began.
Are you in those shoes, too?
This is how it looked for me…
The next thing to reduce weight before going to college was the Zone Diet advocated by Jennifer Aniston, and well – I did want to look as fierce and slim as Rachael from Friends! After living off Diet Coke and Splenda, I mastered that.
But the catch was – I didn’t know how to eat OFF the diet. This was the start of 12 years torturing my body.
My weight was as low as 115 and peaked at 160 pounds as I acquired an eating disorder. Atkins, Weight Watchers, Slim Fast – you name it, I did it! Not to mention Adderall, coffee and cigarettes and countless juice cleanses.
This was compounded by my “work hard, play harder” motto.
I was competitive, chasing that ‘Director’ paycheck – and whoa, did I have an obsession for clothing brands! Weekends were filled with social gatherings, conferences, client schmoozing and usually hangovers.
But because I had this big, fancy corporate job, I was ‘happy’… As much as I could think I was, while having developed disordered eating.
The flip-side of it is that later on, having suffered from pain and anxiety, I learnt a lot about nutrition and further improved my cooking skills.
The deeper change came with yoga. I leaned down for the first time in my life without going on a diet. I started realizing I was chasing this conditioned ‘American Dream’ I was raised to desire, but it didn’t fulfill me.
Already after 6 months of yoga, I decided to turn up the heat and did my first teacher training. I began with yoga sculpt, which works with weights and hip-hop.
Not long after, I’ve met my first yoga mentor and teacher [name] on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and decided to take viniyasa yoga teacher training.
Yoga is often seen as that OM-calm thing… Which isn’t where I was. I did it all while working full-time and (!) doing an internship for teaching sculpt. It was all insane, yet I ate it up with a spoon.
I avidly study all things yoga and lose myself in it for countless hours. As with any other education or teaching profession, once a student you’re always a student, it doesn’t end with my 400 hours of accredited teacher training (and more to come).
What’s yoga to me and what it did for me, I hear you wonder?
Yoga to me is freedom. Freedom to know my own agenda and to be a creative being.
I started to realize who I am, my purpose and my true passions. I stopped living my life by who I think I’m supposed to be.
Yoga helped me to create balance with my eating habits, physical health and emotional wellbeing. How I act and respond to stress and the external world has evolved.
I found my own authentic lifestyle. It was a passion for health and wellness combined with yoga that helped me with needed transformations. I made changes not just with nutrition but with relationships, exercise, finances (bye-bye expensive labels!) and career. I’m thankful that now I can wake up being 2 years sober and adding another day each day.
I believe improving the lives of others causes a ripple effect that can help the world. It doesn’t have to be a drastic move across the globe but why survive when you can thrive?
Nowadays, in my personal and professional practice I work with the body-mind-spirit blend. And use the real blender for many other delicacies. To do your background check (view my credentials) click here; and for the delicious recipes click here.
Speaking of food – I have this special treat for myself once in a while, gangster honey as I call it. I get it only from one particular lady on the island of [island name] in [country] when I visit [yoga school], a place I work with and train at, full of inspiring radiant beings and electrifying yoga flows.
If you take one of my yoga classes at [yoga studio] in [town] or [yoga studio] in [town], you may hear me telling amusing stories about my motorbike accidents in Thailand – no real harm done, something along the lines of [name]’s trademark driving.
Your turn, now –
Stop surviving, begin thriving
“I didn’t like my body, I didn’t like the way I worked or was treated at work, I didn’t like how little money I made, and I didn’t like how I socially isolated I felt. In all, this has been such a beautiful, deeply transformative 6 months for me. I’m excited to move forward in my life with my new attitudes and skillsets. I’m so humbled by [name]’s knowledge and generous time, support, and kindness. She helped to challenge me but has also taught me to be kind and gentle to myself in a way that I never really had before.” – (client’s name, country)
